SUNNY
October 12 2001 - January 27 2004
Why Sunny you ask? Because he was so loving it seemed as if he made the sun shine. This little man was the happiest most wonderful pet. He was surrendered by a person that had him tied up. His name was s--o--b. He was full of heartworms and his eyelids turned in causing his eyelashes to scratch his eyes every time he blinked. We didn't get him until 11/12/2003 so he must have lived 2 years with irritated eyes. When we first took Sunny into our program he had surgery on his eyelids and went to a foster home. He quickly became a favorite. We let his eyes heal and in January of 2004 began his heartworm treatment. Unfortunately, Sunny was unable to survive and now awaits us at the rainbow bridge. Sunny is a perfect example of what happens when heartworm prevention is neglected or ignored. Please do not overlook your pet's heartworm prevention. It should be administered on a monthly basis without fail.

Bocage AKA "Boca"
We received a call from a friend last summer about a senior poodle being dumped at a clinic and were asked to help this precious little guy. Of course we have a soft heart for the sr's who are discarded after years of devotion. Boca had no clue what impact he would have on S.O.S. Rescue...or did he? Boca was put on our website and the first weekend he was at adoption, a wonderful lady drove from Mobile,AL to adopt this special guy. 3 days later we were on our way to Mobile to retreive his lifeless little body. The Necropsy report found that this frail and elderly little boy had died of natural causes as suspected. We believe wholeheartedly that Boca was sent to us for a reason. Through pleas and cries for a foster home in order to save this Angel...A wonderful and most dedicated lady named Peggy came along to foster this little old fellow..and over the next few months she has recruited some wonderful people to jump on board and express to them the positive aspect of fostering. Boca brought Peggy to us. She in turn brought Margaret, Cynthia, Sharon, Carolyn, Norma..... now we know he was sent to open doors for us. Play and frolic once again Sweet Boca...we'll meet again at the Rainbow Bridge.

My beautiful little guy, how I miss you. I only had you for 7 weeks, but you brought so much joy and love into my life. You are thought of often.
