Description:
Katey, along with her sister came to us almost 5 years ago. These darling "Doxie girls" were about 1 1/2 yrs.old at that time. They were dumped at a convenient store. Both were heartworm positive. I was terrified of heartworm treatment and hoped that someone would adopt them together and just put them on prevention. How wonderful that would be! After several months and oodles of inquiries, no one wanted to adopt both and No One wanted HW+ dogs. We reluctantly put these Angels through treatment and thankfully they came through with flying colors. WHEW! Now, certainly with one obstacle out of the way, surely it was just a matter of time. So back and forth to adoption we went, I knew that home was coming along soon...many months went by and the girls were still waiting. Surely it was coming soon. So we waited and waited and...waited. I didn't want to think of the possibility of separating them, they were just so attached, so we kept waiting. The day came when a wonderful family notified me of their interest in a dog such as my wonderful little "doxie girls", BUT, they only wanted one. By this time, we had them for about 2 years, and a decision had to be made. I felt it was not fair to let one miss out on a loving home after all this time. So, little Allie went to her new home with a Mom & Dad, two human siblings & a canine brother. Although a bittersweet ending to the dynamic doxie duo, I was happy for Ally and felt strongly that Katey would be scooped up as well . I called upon a recent adopter who had only one pet and asked her to foster sweet KK. She agreed. This was great because I didn't want Katey to be alone. That was a little over 2 years ago. KK is now back with me after her foster Mom decided she didn't want to adopt her, nor did she want to foster her any longer . Needless to say KK's world is rocked yet again. Katey has had much interest all this time, but no serious inquiries. When I look into those big brown eyes, I see the yearning for something of her very own, I see sadness that she has not found it yet and I see the soulful wonder of what's in store for her. I see the heartbreak that she does not deserve and yet I see the desire only to be loved the way she is capable of loving. Many are not interested because she is 6 1/2 years old. Doxies have a long life span and although she is a mix, she is in great health. To watch her romp and play like a 2-3 year old pup is sheer joy. However, she is a settled girl. Each year she's been with us, I have prayed for Santa to bring her a wonderful home. I hurry to check email just waiting for the news that she has been discovered. My plea to anyone reading this is to help me find the love of Katey's life. I am quite sure they have been looking for her too! Katey is a beautiful girl, very loving and affectionate, yet sometimes independent. She likes her outside time to bask in the sun and in typical doxie inquisitiveness, chase whatever poor creature is disturbing those bushes. She loves the belly rubs and is capable ot "talking" to you as if she understands, ( she probably does! ) every word. She is always willing to greet me with sweet kisses, as if forgiving me for failing to find the wonderful home that has eluded her all this time. There is someone out there for this Darling Doxie Girl, and we will continue to wait. She deserves the very best. Please help us find the home that we know is looking for an Angel named Kate. Help us network her by emailing your friends, family and coworkers and simply ask them to do the same. Together we can take away the wonder in those big brown eyes and replace it with the happiness of what love and life has to offer.
